Interpretation

From the brief given by Out Wild. The key words/ideas/aestetics this design is going to focus on is: - Contemorary - Dynamics - Outdoors These ideas focus on the brands values, namely quality, modernism To achive a choherent design, that delivers on the brand’s needs, the design is going to focus on these values. This is going to be achieved by focusing the logo on outdoor elements, while keeping a clean, sophisicated look.

Using the initials of the name “Out wild” as a trademark. The O is designed as a compass, highlighting the brand’s affinity with the outdoors. The W is designed in the same manner as the O with double lines. The slogan is kept clean and elegant to highlight the importance of quality. It can further be explored how the compass can incorporate a bold element.

The design focuses on geometric wildlife, in this case a deer. It highlights the business’s goals of modernism, contemporary and dynamics. The style is also common among the age demographic of OutWild (20-45). The horns are transformed in the shape of mountains, to further illustrate ideas of the outdoors.

A version with cleaner, dynamic lines. The variation illustrated the values of high quality and sophistication in the market. It can be explored how Out Wild uses local wildlife in the area of Utrecht, the Netherlands.

Reducing the design to the minimum of only mountains to represent the outdoors. However, the Netherlands does not have many mountains, so the idea would need to be refined.

Design with a focus on the full name. The title of the i is transformed to that of a destination marker, showing the promise of adventure and dynamics. The slogan is kept clean and elegant to highlight the importance of quality

The kerning is adjusted for readability. The O is designed as a compass, highlighting the brand’s affinity with the outdoors. It can be explored how the W can connect with the outdoors a bit more.

An iteration where the text is in white bold to highlight core values like dynamics, force and endurance. The white on black shows a more sophisticated, modern twist to the outdoors brand of Out Wild. The i tile can also further be reiterated to have an outline element.

Final critical thoughts

It is advised that Out Wild develops the full name design, because it highlights the company values the clearest with features such as adventure, dynamics and force, while still staying modern and contemporary.

 

The design can be further improved by exploring concepts like, improving line width (thicker), colour variation (Greens and deep greens), scalability, and typography (more dynamic).
